I'm building large scale replicas of the vehicles in the Boeing Milestones of Flight Hall which is set to reopen in 2016.

My X-15 is 1/15th scale. My question is although there's very little size difference between 15th and 16th scale for some reason the 15th scale seems to be the one that sells better for higher prices. I want to ask the owner of Fine Art Models the same question, why did they choose 15th for their warbirds instead of 16th?

All I can think is that when a scale is the same as those used for model kits, like 48th, 96th, 32nd... the perceived value goes down. Contractors almost always use 30th, 40th, 50th...

Any opinions?
