I am a little embarrassed to show this, it is a project that kind of got out of control. It started a few weeks ago when I was in the local K-Mart and saw Ugg boot slippers on a rack and noticed how similar in shape to the Apollo Moon boot. That got me thinking about doing some mods to create Moon boot slippers. This turned into several evenings in the garage, lots of rubber, glue and fiddling. Anyway, they are pretty useless as slippers but loads of fun to make 'Lunar foot prints' at the beach! That is my son taking them for a test EVA: |

Hmm... I guess now anybody can own a pair and maybe use them in art and painting projects, like Al Bean does in his work, making impressions on the canvas with a lunar boot? |

Great job and video! Maybe the UGG was a space spinoff. |

That is awesome. That's what life should be, get an idea and let it take you on a journey. OK, maybe I'm being too philosophical. |

When I was a kid, I swear I saw a pair of boots at a sporting goods store that were actually called, "Moon boots," but I can't really say how accurate they were, other than I recall the tread looking somewhat similar to the A7 series suit overshoes... |

They became popular in the 60s-70s, made by Tecnica and now available once again at this site Here is a site with some of the history. |

Great job on boots. I'm currently recreating a replica of Buzz Aldrin's moon suit for a school project and was wondering what type of material you used for the simulated blue silicone on the boot? |
