My Hobby Lobby had the Mercuryt 1/12 model on markdown for $13.00. Check quickly, they won't last long. |

Hobby Lobby? Is this a model shop? And was the model a kit or pre-built? |

Hobby Lobby is kind of a "big box" hobby/craft store, kind of like Michael's but different. HL typically has a wider selection of model kits, and frequently runs discounts, either through markdown sales or coupons. Stores also usually have a section of discounted kits, and the variety (or specific kits) can vary from store to store. If it's the 1:12 Atomic City model in question (and I think it is), it's a kit. It's a very nice kit, but it's been criticized for lacking some internal details. I have one, and I like it. If you can find one for $13.00, it's an extreme steal, as it originally retailed for several times that. jodie |

That's the thing about Hobby Lobby stores; the pricing can be awful idiosyncratic from store to store. One store we went to has the Testors F4U-1 Corsair (the current rebox of an ancient 1:72 kit) for $35.00, while at another Ralph got the then brand-new 2005 Corvette kit, marked $5.99. I've also seen four examples of the same kit with as many different prices on each. Sometimes it works in your favor, other times it doesn't! The trick is in being there first when it does.... jodie |

The Hobby Lobby web site has a sign up for coupon link. The coupon this week is 40% off anything of regular price. 40% off helps a lot on $65.00 on the 1/12 Mercury. Best of luck. |

The Hobby Lobby website (hobbylobby.com; be sure not to put a hyphen between the two) also has a link on its main page for the weekly specials; it gives you choices to view the weekly ad and a choice to view/print the weekly coupon. You can sign up on the website, too, but you can also access the weekly coupon without signing up. I've taken advantage of the weekly coupon a lot of times, for lots of stuff I didn't know I needed. jodie |
