The Squadron green and white bondo filler I'm using on my tube/paper/styrene Saturn 1B is just too flippin toxic. Anyone have any suggestions on an alternative. |

Some things we like to use include two-part epoxy putty for big areas (Milliput if you can find it, or Tamiya), and gap-filling super glue, like Zap-a-Gap (for smaller areas). The downside of gap-filling super-glue is that you have to sand it as soon as it sets, or otherwise it turns rock-hard. On the other hand, if you use it with accelerator (like Zip Kicker), you can make it cure almost instantly and get started on sanding. There are other things out there, but these two come readily to mind. jodie |

I wouldn't exactly call CA Non-Toxic, btw.you can always use the old baking soda/CA trick. Still not toxin free, but it gets the job done

"CA" is cyanoacrylate glue, better known as "super glue." You can find it in the supermarket as "krazy glue" or similar brands, and there are brands specially made for hobby and R/C applications. These include Pacer Industries' "Zap" and "Zap-A-Gap" and similar brands, as well as other brands you can find in the hobby shop.jodie |

Thanks all for the input. I found a perfect non-toxic substitute. Minwax exterior/interior wood fill dries extremely fast, doesn't crack, has no fumes, and is paintable. Buy it in the tube for easiest use. [Edited by Moonpaws (December 27, 2006).] [Edited by Moonpaws (December 27, 2006).] |
