Sorry to bring this up, but has anybody heard from Dana Geraths lately? I have some custom work that has been requested back in Jan '05. I have left messages on his office phone, e-mailed him and even attempted to page him to no avail. Any help would be great, Thanks. |

I talked to him two weeks ago and received an e-mail Monday. (He was in Seattle). I know that he had a serious hand injury early this year and was affected by the flooding they had early this year as well. Also, he is an artist and they march to the beat of a different drummer! |

Dana always has a problem. It is a standard excuse that something has happened to A.) his family, B.) his shop, C.) the model is defective or D.) the shipment was lost in the mail (my personal favorite).I have not seen a guy with more excuses. It is just that you will never see your model or product that you ordered. Its my experience that you are out of luck if you gave him money up front. He took $1,500.00 from me with nothing to show for it. Then he had the gall to tell me that it was my fault that he could not deliver the model that he promised and was paid up front for almost two years before. I challenge Dana to explain why he could not finish my Saturn V model. You should check in and ask other collectors that might be on this website who have dealt with Dana and never received their goods. Larry McGlynn |

I've got no dog in this fight but it seems to me that one way to keep customers satisfied if there is going to be a delay in completing said item -is to maintain contact either via e-mail or phone and advise them of when they may be expecting their item completed. The most frustrating thing when waiting is wondering why I'm waiting in the first place. |

DWR - I had this problem with Gerath's last year - and I started a topic just like you - check out "Gerath's Design Customer Service Lacking" thread in this forum - it grew to 46 entries! It was started in September 2005. I had to come here on this forum to finally get his attention and get a simple wooden base for my Buzz Aldrin figure - his responses were pretty nasty - I had to press him to finally follow thru with delivery. Good luck, as my experience with him has been an upleasant one and I found that he is full of excuses and he likes to put the blame back on his customers or some family issue. |

I'm not going to "pile-on" Dana (much), but I'm one of those "patiently waiting" for my 1/12 Mercury spacecraft to be completed. I mailed my model and commission cost April or May of 2005 and have also had issues with the status of the completion date. I won't go into details as I've made Dana aware of my displeasure at alway being told "it's almost done". I fear that at 14 months of waiting I may still be pretty far back in the que. As John Rochester said, all we want as a customer is to be provided updates and be given a fair and accurate assessment of completion. I told Dana that I would continue to wait, much less patiently, as time goes by, and plan on getting a professionally built model for the money I paid. But I don't have much power as he has my money and model, and don't have many other options but to wait and hope that my project doesn't get bumped for other work. Good luck to all. |

My own experience would be funny to tell, but frankly it was quite pathetic and on a great day like today I prefer to replay the Launch.Only thing, do not buy from that person, a bet on the World Cup winner will probably be a lot safer.

The decision to close this thread now is not being made because of anyone's request to do so. Nor was it done because of any past business conducted between Geraths Design and Countdown Creations/buySPACE. Other than selling off our remaining stock, we no longer carry Geraths Design products. The final state of this thread offers the initial response by each participant with the exception of Mr. Gerath, whose comments (and any replies to them) were removed. The thread was closed because the original poster's question had been answered. A prior topic exists where much of the subsequent posters' experiences were previously shared. I am just one individual and in this case, I did not have the resources to cover a developing space mission, track sightings and events, research and write articles, maintain the website and police a thread that was essentially a repeat of an earlier discussion. I apologize if the decision has upset you. |
