This is my rendition of the American A7LB spacesuit. I depicted Eugene Cernan CDR of Apollo 17.Scale: 1:10 Materials: Miliput(mostly), Ping-Pong balls(helmet), Resin(valves), Brass(floating straps), Aluminum(digging tool, camera bracket) and some scratch build. Paint: Acrylic (Liquitex) Enjoy! (This site is under construction… so it’s pretty empty) http://www.phillipe.cantin.com/sculptures/apollo17/

Thanks for all the comments guys! This is completely hand made with a two-part epoxy paste (Miliput). I took me a long time to get enough reference pictures and drawings before I could start that project. I'm currently working on a 1:12 EMU. This one will have a transparent visor so we can see the astronaut face. Phillipe

That is beautiful Phillipe! You are very talented. From the velcro to the tubes to the checklist, everything is dead-on realistic. |

Philip,Thanks for the comment on my current project. The EMU figure is moving along once again! We just had twins before Christmas… so I now know the importance of time in the word pastime. I’m currently working on the helmet video & lights assembly. The head is now attached to the body with the lower part of the helmet. The body is also taking shape. The legs and the rotating hips seal are formed but not detailed yet. The PLSS is also attached to the body and ready to be detailed. It’s a lot of work! So much that I made a big decision to change my working medium after this figure is done. So long Milliput, welcome Castilene wax. It’s used by a lot of sculptors and I think my productivity would be much better with it. I’ll update my web site very soon (hopefully next weekend). Phillipe |
