Its probably 10 years since I posted last, if not longer. Due to financial constraints my collecting has pretty much come to a halt.

Anyway this week I purchased off eBay a flown RAF flag from STS 41-G. This flag had been on eBay a long time. It also came with some authentication documents the listing said.

As an Australian living in Scotland 41-G has always been of interest to me and the signature though faded was of Paul Scully Power.

Anyway after some dialogue with the seller (i.e. made an offer), we came to an agreement and I purchased the flag.

While the flag made my day, The documentation folder that came with it was amazing, It documents the six flags that were flown, who got them and pretty much everything on how it was arranged. Thank you letters or copies from recipients. All told some 30 or so pages. Still have a few pages to read but each document is very interesting in its own right.

Glad I made this purchase and would have regretted letting it get away. Plus its my first proper flown flag and the wife has said due to the way its displayed she would quite happily display it in the main house and not in my study!

Congratulations Ian on such a great pickup!

The flag is very nice (and nicely framed) but the provenance package is such a great find. Sometimes the documents behind an artifact can be as much a treasure as the item itself and I think this is one of those cases.

All times are CT (US)
