I recently acquired a Liberty Bell 7 artifact (thank you Jeff) and I'm trying to do some research on it which would include finding a photo of it in the spacecraft. I reached out to the Cosmosphere and was told that, at this point in time, there is no access to the restoration photo archive.

Does anyone have an idea where I might find the restoration photos?

And yes, I did a lot of Google image searches but didn't find much. Thanks!

My recollection (which could be faulty) is that the Cosmosphere did not release detailed restoration photographs, only wide shots of the conservation lab.

As an alternative, you might try looking for the CD included with Curt Newport's "Lost Spacecraft," as it is described as including "manufacturer technical drawings of the Liberty Bell 7 spacecraft." I do not recall how detailed those drawings are, though.

Good idea Robert!

I just went into my "library" and found Lost Spacecraft. The CD had never been removed so I pried it out of the plastic sleeve and checked it out. There are 12 detail drawings on the disc, most of which I've run across during my searches but the resolution is great and some I've never seen.

The person who responded to me from the Cosmosphere said they are currently talking about making the archive available. I have run across a number of restoration photos and some are closeups detailing the process of cleaning and archiving the items.

Thanks again for the suggestion.

Thanks for the offer Lou and I'm taking you up on it.

I sent you a long email explanation with some photos of the item and some possible sightings of similar items yesterday.
