I was wondering if someone can help me identify the item below. I was told that it is part of an Atlas rocket guidance computer. The date codes on the chips range from 7202-7332 with most of them being 7316, there is one exception, looks like one of the chips by the header was replaced with a chip from '81 (the only black chip in the front photo).

The frame has an:

  • Assembly number: 2-00059-307
  • Serial Number: 910
  • Revision: N
The back of the circuit board has a marking: 43619-B-2.

I was told that it came from an gentleman that used to work on the rocket. What I would like help with is confirming the claim that this is from an Atlas, identifying what function this board had. Also, for superbonus points, can the specific rocket this was originally in be identified?

I can see five distinct layers, so I assume it's a six or eight layer board.

No, it likely wasn't assigned to one. And you would need to the serial number of computer assembly to know which, if any, Atlas it was installed.

Since it is chore to find the disposition of every Atlas built, it is unlikely to know which components were assigned to each.

All times are CT (US)
