Wolbrook Watches, based in France, has begun a Kickstarter campaign to bring back the Skindiver "Worldtimer," a mechanical watch worn by Neil Armstrong before he became an astronaut.

Neil Armstrong's DOUGLAS Skindiver "Worldtimer" was recently auctioned and his brother confirmed its authenticity. From what we know, Neil was an engineer and a test pilot before everything.

The 1960s Skindiver "Worldtimer" was a solid, water resistant and highly legible timepiece with luminous markers and hands, large sweep second hand, distinctive hour and minute hands, time zone, elapsed time and 24 hours indicators. This mix of features from a diving watch and a pilot watch, makes it the kind of tool-watch "a NASA engineer and test pilot" would personally choose and wear.

Neil Armstrong flew countless of aircraft through his career. The fact that Neil's Skindiver accompanied him in a cockpit is highly probable but which one is impossible to know and leaves a part of mystery. This is where history stops and the legend starts...

With your help our goal is to bring back the Skindiver "Worldtimer" — the watch owned and worn by Neil Armstrong — and Wolbrook as an independent watchmaker and a viable company to offer continuous support for yesterday's watches and to develop the ones of tomorrow's.

The project wss launched on Dec. 12, 2019 and surpassed its goal of €29,300 ($32,583) in its first three hours. It is, as of this posting (Dec. 15) at nearly $75,000 from 270 backers, with 26 more days to go.

At 0:27 Neil Armstrong was wearing an Accutron Astronaut tuning fork wristwatch, as 7 of the 12 X-15 pilots were pictured with.

Would certainly like to see a photo of Neil Armstrong wearing a Wolbrook watch...
