I have seen some photographs of the Apollo A-7LB suits where the forearms and lower legs of the suit were detached from the suit. I have also seen photographs of the suits without their white cover layers and have seen attachment rings on the arms of the suits that seem to join the upper arms of the suits withe the lower arms of the suits. Was the detachable lower limbs of the suits a standard feature of the A-7L and A-7LB suits? Or was it that the suits that have this feature are suits that were experimentally modified and had this feature added to them? See the below picture of an A-7LB suit with its lower limbs detached. |

Wow. NASA really got their money's worth out of THAT suit.As far as the ITMG is concerned I believe the arms of the ITMG for all A7L suits are not detachable whereas those of the A7LB are. The ITMG in the recent RR auction was a hybrid and the first that I have seen. It used the A7L ITMG but adding detachable arms. I may be wrong, but I do not believe the arms of the underlying pressure suit were detachable for either model. Hope this helps. David. | |
