I wanted to find out information about this Kern DKM-1 Theodolite that I have. It came with a sticker marked Property of US Government, GE Apollo Support Group about which there is some information on the internet.
While I was simply interested in the intrinsic quality of the instrument, the person from whom I bought it had ascribed extra significance for the sticker, considering the possible connection to the Apollo program. I have found some mention of theodolites online being used at NASA, but no photographs or specific descriptions of this device in connection with the GE Apollo Support Group. I'd be grateful to learn more.

These optics were used for vehicle assembly as well as alignment of checkout equipment at the cape; the Kern in your possession was likely for the latter application. The ST-124 platform alignment was also validated by theodolite of different design.
