Here are three notebooks used by Rockwell during the construction of Apollo service modules and capsules. There were probably dozens of these notebooks.Notebooks reference: - S/C 103 (Apollo 8), 4/23/68 through 8/7/68 with some odd time gaps (Note page 95 "S/M 103 H2 Tank has been damaged.")
- S/C 108 (Apollo 12) 8/9/68 through 3/26/69. Last page references Apollo 11 and Apollo 12.
- Supervisors Log starts 3/3/68 and references Policy Letter #10 requiring hardbound notebooks. Ends 9/13/68 with references to S/C 107 (Apollo 11) and S/C 106 (Apollo 10).
There are numerous references to other spacecraft scattered throughout the books.Let me know what you think. Feel free to pass to anyone who is interested. |

This is great history, thank you for the significant effort to scan the documents and make them available on-line! |

Meant to to this for the past year. The copy company was very reasonable at <$50.Please discuss any gems that you find. A lot of the terminology is obscure to me. |

Those look to be subsystem log books. Each subsystem (F/C Cryo) as shown used the log books to as as way to communicate information, plans, describe problems to the next shift as most of the operations were taking place around the clock and often 7 days a week. Lucky find. I think most were thrown out after the end of the program. |

This might be a dumb question, but were these used at KSC during final testing and checkout, or were they CA/Downey logbooks from the manufacturing process? |

Just looked at a few pages of the log books. From the nomenclature used (TVAR, OCP) I'm pretty sure they were Downey Ca. manufacturing log books. You could research the CM delivery dates to KSC to confirm this. We used similar log books at KSC as long as I worked there, some 30 years. I'd guess that most were trashed at the completion of each program. Generally when a program was completed most of the workers were laid off or moved to other facilities. Most of the documentation went into the trash and the extra hardware went out the door to the surplus/scrap sales facility. |
