As the pictures start to emerge now of Christer Fuglesang and STS-128 at the space station I see that he is wearing the Omega X-33 watch, but also another one. Does anyone know what brand the other watch is?

I was guessing on a Fortis, but it does not look like it. Or is it actually the sleep experiment?

The watch is made by Halda Sweden and was specifically designed for spaceflight with Fuglesang's input.

Many thanks Robert for your fast reply. I also see on another picture there is a Swedish flag on the band.

Halda Space Watch presented in stores in Sweden

During STS-128 the Swedish astronaut Christer Fuglesang brought along a watch designed by the Swedish company Halda. The watch has been designed with the space traveller in mind, including different times of course (local, UTC, MET, all time zones around the world, stopwatch, countdown, timer etc.).

It also includes 3-axis accelerometer and event log for scientific use. Christer Fuglesang took part of the design process and added useful features. The watch is in two parts – one electronic module and one mechanical analogue module and they can be docked to a common platform.

The watch has been manufactures in 128 pieces.

The designer Mikael Sandström presented the watch during a world premier in Göteborg, Sweden.

Retail price: 85,000 SEK (approx. 13,200 USD)

Above: The designer of the Halda Space Discovery watch (to the right) presents the watch.
