Great suggestion, but I have to respectively disagree based on several reasons.First, I believe that this is the date printed on the front. The serial numbers on the back of the plaque are an 'older' government format. I believe most shuttle hardware will at least reference a cage code on hardware.
All of the Shuttle EVA procedure cards I have seen have been laminated plastic and not aluminum.
From the Skylab site:
"For the three manned Skylab missions, all three astronauts wore slightly modified A7L-B suits for launch, docking and undocking phases, and EVA... An EVA visor assembly similar to that used today on the Shuttle/ISS Extravehicular Mobility Unit was worn over the pressure helmet..."
If I read the card correctly, only EV3 'blinks lights' in the event of total comm loss. EV1 and EV2 both use hand signals. Since all three would wear suits during the EVA, could it be that EV3 refers to the Astronaut that is inside Skylab? Blinking the lights could refer to lights on or inside the spacecraft and not on the suit.
I may definitely be wrong about this but would love to hear your thoughts!
In the meantime I will dig deeper and contact the original owner to see if he can be of further help. The owner did not have any Shuttle hardware. Only Gemini, Apollo, and Skylab.
The 'EV' designation is the tricky part. I am having trouble finding reference online to Skylab EVA designations. Someone out there must have a good book on Skylab.
