Looking for opinions on the 2025 Niue Apollo 11 Landing silver coin (retail $199) that comes with a piece of "Neil Armstrong's personally flown flight jacket."
Celebrate one of humanity's greatest achievements with this stunning 2025 Niue Apollo 11 Landing 1 oz silver coin. Officially graded NGCX Reverse PF 9.9 by NGC, this limited-release collector's piece honors the historic 1969 moon landing with a full-color depiction of the Apollo 11 Lunar Module on the surface of the Moon.

Key Features:

  • Contains 1 oz of .999 fine silver
  • Official legal tender of Niue – $1 face value
  • Reverse Proof 10 grade by NGCX
  • First Releases designation
  • Full-color design featuring Apollo 11's historic landing
  • Encapsulated for protection and authenticity
Adding to its prestige, the coin's certification card contains an authentic piece of Neil Armstrong's personally flown flight jacket, making it a true piece of space exploration history. The obverse features the Public Seal of Niue, reinforcing its official status.

Without more information, my guess is that by "flown" jacket they mean flown on an aircraft and not in space.

And, based on the look of the material, I am wondering if this might be the flight jacket they are cutting the samples from. It was sold by Heritage Auctions in 2019, but did not come from the Armstrong Family Collection.

Neil requested this purchase after friends objected to his wearing an Army Air Corp jacket rather than a Navy Jacket. Worn in many of the later First Flights episodes. Excellent condition exhibiting modest wear.

Great post Robert. Thought it might be a small round patch of lining. Looks like well worn leather close up of listing.

I am mildly curious, is this NGC trying to upsell the Niue coin by enhancing its label (much like when it offers autographed or custom design labels) or is it Niue (New Zealand Mint) that acquired the jacket and then partnered/paid NGC to include it with the coin when slabbed?

Minting technology is 21st century. Coins and medals that are miniature works of art.

A recent King Arthur coin had a removable mini Excaliber sword.

All times are CT (US)
