Winco has also produced a lapel pin made from the same blend of historic metals: |

The pins are available now. Some on eBay but a bit pricey. Check the NASA gift shops. |

Why so late into 2018 to come out with these? The agency was founded in the summer of 1958, right? |

Eisenhower signed the National Aeronautics and Space Act in July 1958, but NASA's birthday — the day it opened for business — was Oct. 1, 1958. |

Yes, NASA opened almost exactly one year after Sputnik. (Almost, give or take a couple days.) |

The Space Store now has the medallion available without its backer card/certificate. Medallions packaged with the card are expected in December. |

Thanks Robert and Tim for the tipper! I just ordered one, but wish that the COA card was accompanied it. That said, do you know who manufactured it? Was it a Winco production with Matthew Skeins' artistry or was this a new producer?Any information down the line for obtaining a separate COA (without purchasing the same medallion again) would be greatly appreciated! |

These medallions have been offered for sale (w/o COA, now with...) for about two months. Has anyone seen/purchased one from an actual NASA gift shop, whether online or in person? I haven't seen them offered anywhere other than a select few eBay accounts and The Space Store. |

I was able to purchase one (w/o COA) at the NASA HQ gift shop in Washington DC before the partial government shutdown. |

You can now purchase these coins with a COA from various sources, for what it's worth. |
