This is the U.S. Navy's USS Anchorage (LPD-23) challenge coin for NASA's Orion EFT-1 mission. |

My quest is now complete, I found a bountiful quantity of this challenge coin. A fellow cS'er tipped me to NASA Headquarters Exchange Store. These coins are priced at $12 and can be ordered over the phone (202-358-0162) and can be shipped the same day depending on how busy they are.I began the quest in December 2014 to January 2015 in which I developed a rapport with the Expeditionary Strike Group Three and USS Anchorage Public Affairs. Unfortunately, both points of contact were scheduled to PCS out and therefore the two I requested had fallen through the cracks. Luckily I got the incoming PAO's contact and turns out I'm expecting a package of Orion "stuff." |

Thanks for sharing and posting the contact information. Unfortunately, after leaving several messages last week, I was unable to get through to the Exchange store until today, and they were sold out! If anyone has an extra that they would part with, or know another source, I would be very appreciative. |

I noticed some of these on eBay now advertised as serialized (#455, 456, etc). Does anyone know anything about the origin of these numbered coins? The original postings weren't serialized. |

The original run of challenge coins (before the NASA re-order, from which most of the eBay sales and the NASA exchange store sales originate) were individually serialized. The number was engraved on a small metal plate that was mounted under the "December 2014" inscription on the front of the medallion.I see now, that there are some being offered with a number stamped on the back, above the ship's well. I don't know the origin of these or whether the numbering is an after-market add-on. |

Does anyone know the mintage of the EFT-1 ship coin or the Apollo 13 San Diego Air and Space coin pictured here? |

For those of you still looking to add this to your collection, I just visited the NASA HQ Exchange Store yesterday, and they have these challenge coins back in stock (see Jason's (JBoe) message above for contact info to the Exchange Store). |
