Can a medallion cast into lucite be safely removed somehow?
I have a really nice Spacelab medallion I got cheap, but the lucite is beat to heck, scratched and all. I am considering desolving the lucite and recovering the medallion. Or should I just leave it the heck alone?
I am just not savvy on how to proceed. Thanks for any advice.

As another option, and not knowing just how bad this is, have you considered polishing the lucite? I picked up a number of Skylab "dome" lucite that were really scratched up bad. I used gel toothpaste with just a little water and with minimal rubbing by hand made them shine. Just a thought.

You might find this thread helpful.
Fred's suggestion to think about polishing was my first reaction as well (preservation-oriented) but depends of course on the particulars of the original item (condition, quality of lucite, informational or provenance content), and, your personal preference.

I do have extra Spacelab medals that I can offer. So you won't have any work. Just email me!
