I got this coin when I first went to Kennedy Space Center when I was young.
I don't remember much about getting it all I remember is we were in the parking lot and a KSC patrol car was there. The officer gave my brother and I each this coin.
One side has "Kennedy Space Center" on the top and on the bottom it says "Patrol" with the US flag, the VAB and a shuttle launch on it.
The other side says "Kennedy Space Center Patrol" on the top with "United States of America" on the bottom and in the middle is "Security Headquarters Building K6-2496 Kennedy Space Center Florida 32899."
Any information on this and it's rarity (or lack thereof)? It looks like a coin version of this. Thanks!

Dave, the coins were made in aluminum, bronze and silver. You have one of the aluminum coins. The coin front was a copy of the Kennedy Space Center Patrol uniform shirt patch that matched the law enforcement / security patrol cars. The design was changed about 1999. The current design will once again be changing in Spring 2011. The "K6-2496" on the back of the coin was the building number for the security forces on KSC. The coin was designed by KSC Patrol Officer Merritt (over 30 years on the department)and he is still on duty. MERRITT@USA.COM

Thanks for the info. I have always wondered about them. It's my first memory of going to any NASA place. Getting out of the rental, having the KSC police car drive up and getting the coin. I was looking at the photos of that trip and I am holding up the coin with a huge smile.
