Launched on November 14, 1969, Apollo 12 was the second manned lunar landing mission and the first to encounter another spacecraft on the surface of the Moon (Surveyor III). Charles "Pete" Conrad, Jr. and Alan Bean lived on the Moon for 31 hours and 31 minutes (7 hours and 30 minutes of which were outside the Lunar Module Intrepid) while Richard Gordon orbited the Moon inside the Command Module Yankee Clipper.

The attached is a segment of the space suit oxygen hoses that supplied breathing oxygen to the Apollo 12 crew during launch and docking phases of the mission. While not connected to the space suits, the hoses provided a conduit of fresh oxygen to the cabin. After the mission, parts of the oxygen hose assemblies were analyzed. The hoses were cut into six inch segments, and some were then split in half. This sample was saved from shavings from this procedure.
