Apollo 11, launched July 16, 1969, marked the first manned lunar landing mission. Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin lived on the Moon for 21.6 hours (2 hours and 31 minutes of which were outside the Lunar Module Eagle) while Michael Collins orbited the Moon inside the Command Module Columbia.

Attached to this triangle of adhesive tape is lunar dust from Tranquility Base, the Apollo 11 landing site. After accidentally having been dropped on the lunar surface, the 'S' film canister was carried back to Earth where NASA photographer Terry Slezak used the tape to clean the dust from the magazine. Slezak was later presented with a segment of the stained tape as a souvenir.
