Apollo 10 Ablative Heatshield

Launched May 18, 1969, Apollo 10 was the final rehearsal for a manned landing, testing both the Command Module "Charlie Brown" and Lunar Module "Snoopy" in orbit about the Moon. During their return to Earth, the Apollo 10 crew established the record for the highest speed ever attained by man: 24,790 mph.

Embedded is a burned heatshield segment removed from "Charlie Brown" following its historic flight to Moon.

This one-of-a-kind acrylic was produced by the Kansas Cosmosphere and Space Center.
