Urine Collection Device (UCD)

Missions: N/A
Comment: The condom-style rubber sleeve attachment
was issued in three sizes: L, XL and XXL.

Prior to the current use of disposable absorbent underwear, the Urine Collection Device (UCD) was worn by male crew members* during spacewalks based from the space shuttle and International Space Station. The disposable, urethane- coated nylon UCD attached to the undergarments by Velcro and connected to the crewmember by a rubber sleeve.

This example of a UCD was prepared for spaceflight by the Boeing Company in December 1995.

* Females used a disposable absorption containment trunk, or DACT.
