CBS Radio News' coverage of the Apollo-Soyuz Test Project (ASTP) liftoff.Likely recorded by Reid Collins himself on a cassette recorder, during his coverage from the press room. But I could be wrong, your thoughts? Some things of note. - Very high audio quality, clear background audio during parts of host silence due to mic auto-gain. The background audio has other people and astronaut voices.
- Host seems to be talking with somebody else, but this voice is missing from the recording.
- Ending of the recording seems to be rushed. Nothing else on the 60-minute tape.

Thanks for posting this. This is definitely a studio recording made of Reid Collins' audio feed at KSC. The reason you don't hear the reporter in Moscow, Richard Roth, is because that audio would have been fed to CBS in New York and mixed there for broadcast. Presumably Reid Collins would have heard this audio fed back to him in his headphones. | |
