I recently purchased a "seven cassette spoken word audio collection" at Borders bookstore and have thoroughly enjoyed listening to it. I highly recommend it. It's over seven hours worth of listening telling the story from Freedom 7 to Apollo 17.
It is well narrated and has many audio clips that I haven't heard before ranging from everyone from the astronauts to the political leaders of the time. Sure, there are a couple of errors in it that make you wince a bit.
Also included is a two hour bonus DVD that's worth the the price of the tapes.
It's put out by Topics Entertainment. Anybody else have this?

Does anyone have any opinion — good or bad — about In Their Own Words: The Space Race? I've got the "To The Moon" record set and wondered if this CD set was more comprehensive.

These are great! I highly recommend them. I believe I've now listened to them four or five times from beginning to end. They are unique from any other set.

A nice late Christmas Present for all.
First Person Productions Inc. has allowed me to make this set public for your listening pleasure. This is a fantastic audio documentary on the space race that in my opinion rivals the Time-Life set. Please enjoy.

I purchased this item over 10 years ago and have listened to it a couple of time. There are a couple of errors with astronauts being listed on the wrong flights. Overall not a bad CD set, except for the errors.
