Was there a point at which NASA stopped printing paper press kits for shuttle missions? At that point did press kits become exclusively available "online"?Taking the example of the launch I saw, STS-117 on 8th June, 2007, is there a paper version of the press kit, or is it only available in digital form? If there is a paper version, how come I've never seen it on eBay? If anyone has a spare copy... |

Since at least STS-114, NASA distributed its space shuttle mission press kits in digital form (first on CD, then later on its website). But there were always print (i.e. paper) editions available, all the way through STS-135. That said, printed kits were limited in number and really no different than if you took the PDF offered online and printed it for yourself. Practically speaking, there is really no way to distinguish an original press kit printed by United Space Alliance and distributed by NASA to journalists from one printed privately. |

Did the printed press kits have cardstock covers? Or did that too end after a certain flight (and what flight was that?) |

None of the post-STS-107 mission kits had card stock covers (other than STS-135, which was printed separately as a commemorative cover). |

Maybe not the ones issued by KSC, but for STS-135, I was able to get a press kit from Marshall SFC on my drive back that had a card stock cover (black and white, not color and a little higher quality than the pure photo copy ones that the KSC press site had). |

I posted this under an earlier topic, but here are photos of the color STS-135 press kit printed by United Space Alliance and distributed at Johnson Space Center, and the commemorative cover.
