For Duane Seaman, landing men on the moon was in the job description.
In his new book, "Essays in Idleness
" (published by AuthorHouse), Seaman reflects on his time with NASA as project supervisor for the Apollo "Moonshot" Program. He also recounts his adolescence during the Great Depression and enduring the post-World War II era.
According to Seaman, the book was not only a release for him but also a way to get readers reflecting on a particularly hard time in American history.
"While reading this book, older generations will have a chance to reflect on their childhoods and adolescences," says Seaman. "Younger readers can finally understand their parents' and grandparents' points of view."
In addition to his memories, Seaman also devotes sections to his observations, original poetry and works of fiction. The observations section features a compilation of unusual idioms and songs, including a "Gee Whiz" section and original name game.
"All of these memories, reflections and observations have been gathered over 60 years of my life," says Seaman, who is 82. "There's something here for everyone. I include the bizarre, the crazy, the extraordinary, the seemingly impossible and even the outrageous."
