International Association of Astronomical Artists Kickstarter project Publish the space art book "The Beauty of Space"The IAAA is the only organization in the entire world dedicated to creating and promoting the genre of Space Art. Though Space Art has been around for just over a hundred years, there has never been a book that tells the story of the history of Space Art, how it came to be, how it has grown to be perhaps the most influential genre of art ever. Now there is. The IAAA has written a comprehensive history of Space Art that covers every detail of the movement, from the first works of art that began depicting the objects in the sky to the streams of digital data coming back from space probes in orbit around planets in our solar system. Every facet of Space Art is thoroughly described and displayed, from hardware to cosmic expressionism, from digital art to sculpture, from Earth to the most distant objects in deep space. Titled "The Beauty of Space", the book is 10x8 in size with over 200 full color images in 180 pages in 11 chapters written by the members of the IAAA. The Foreword of the book was written by Apollo 12 Astronaut - and the only artist to ever walk on the surface of another world - Alan Bean. Your donation will help defray the costs of printing and distributing the book. Hopefully, with enough sales, "The Beauty of Space" will be distributed widely to various venues such as museum and planetarium gift stores nation and world wide. |

Now this is a project that I will back. Space Art is an integral part of the poetic vision of Man's journey into the Universe. I have many books on space art, but this one looks like the quintessential book on the subject. I hope that Jon reaches his goal and gets this book published. ------------------ Larry McGlynn A Tribute to Apollo |

Not only was the goal met, donations have more than doubled the desired amount! And there are still 27 days to still give. Here's Jon's update: Wow - I go out of town for one day and when I come back I find the project has MET THE GOAL! And we did it in less than 24 hours! We in the IAAA thank each and everyone of you! We're proud to know that there are folks out there who share our vision of a beautiful universe. But let's not stop here - if we raise enough funds, we can make an even bigger print run than originally planned and get the book out to even more people. So please let your friends know what you are a part of, maybe they will join us in space! |

What a great book idea! And what a phenomenal way to fund it. I am impressed -- the video on the site sold me! I'm in. Can't wait to see the final product! |

I'm in also. I signed up for a hard-cover copy on the website. Looks like a great summary of space art through the years. |

Today, I received my copy of "The Beauty of Space." Besides being an excellent history on the subject, it also delves into the various directions that space art has taken over the last several decades. As one of the higher Kickstarter members, the IAAA offered to have one of their member artists paint a painting in the book. They did not disappoint. Mike Carroll, a well known member of the association, volunteered to paint a wonderful view of Jupiter and Io from a neighboring moon (Europa). They did an excellent job with this book. Jon Ramer, the editor, should be congratulated. |
