At the website Tranquility Base you will find two videos of the moon landing of Apollo 11 and the first 20 minutes of the moonwalk. What's new?

These videos synchronize ALL sources available, including TV channels. You will find the transcripts in real time of Earth to moon exchanges but also, between the controllers in mission control (click on the American flag for the English version of the site).

This is very impressive video editing. The videos are gracing the website for a book which is available from Amazon France: I hope I can get it delivered here in Canada.

On the book's website, you'll find the two videos plus interesting side notes, such as the July 21, 1969 edition of the Italian newspaper "Il Messaggero" who published a close-up picture of a boot imprint on the lunar dust... Not Aldrin's picture, though, still unprocessed at the time of course, but a fake! (more details, in Italian).

Author Serge Bordères noticed that while photographing the poster reproductions of some newspapers "Moon landing editions". I never noticed that!

That 'fake bootptint' photo was also used in Dutch newspapers at the time. I believe it was some sort of logo for articles about Apollo 11, not an attempt to pass it for a real onboard photo.

All times are CT (US)
