Reading about the sad passing of Brian O'Leary and remembering reading his autobiography "The Making of an Ex-Astronaut" got me wondering. Who wrote the first astronaut biography? Was it John Glenn? |

Perhaps We Seven, by all the Mercury astronauts, or Gemini! by Grissom?

I always thought We Seven and Gemini were ghost written (despite We Seven claiming to be by the astronauts themselves). Excluding those two books, the first "real" bio would have been O'Leary's in 1970. Collins' "Carrying the Fire" was published in 1974, the same year as Betty Grissom's "Starfall", I believe. | |
