The UK magazine BBC Sky at Night October 2007 issue has bonus features on it's cover disc this month. These are:
  • 1970 TV Episode with Neil Armstrong interview.
  • 1982 TV Episode with Gene Cernan interview.
  • Audio interviews with Jim Lovell, Fred Haise and Bruce McCandless.
  • An audio interview with Reg Turnhill.
  • Hear the sound of Sputnik.
This is all on top of the usual TV episode and software, pictures, etc.

Well worth the cover price!

Speaking of "BBC Sky at Night", are there any US members here who subscribe? It's an excellent publication, but it doesn't show up on stateside newsstands until well into the cover month (I still haven't seen September). If you subscribe, what kind of delivery time do you get?

The video CD is brilliant: I haven't seen the complete 1970 interview with Neil Armstrong for at least 35 years, or the complete 1982 interview with Gene Cernan for perhaps 23 years. A real piece of space history for the cost of the magazine (£4.25).

The April 2007 issue of the magazine has a disc containing the second part of their recent Gene Cernan interview plus the JAXA hi-def footage from the moon.

Look out for the December 2008 issue. It covers the Apollo 8 mission and has a cover disc with the original BBC broadcast of the Apollo 8 special hosted by Patrick Moore and James Burke in black and white. Cool!!!

I saw what looked like a Special Edition of the Sky At Night Magazine today. It came with a set of 3D glasses and contained various space photos, including ones of the moon landings, in 3D.

Just wondered if anyone had a bought a copy and if so is it worth buying?

For fellow Yanks, I just picked up two copies of Sky at Night's "Space 3D" special publication at my local Barnes & Noble, so it's available by retail in the States (I'm just south of Denver). It's another outstanding production by the Sky at Night team. Most of the the 3D images are astronomical subjects (Nebulae, galaxies, planets, planetary landscapes, etc.) but there are numerous images of spacecraft like the Shuttle, Apollo hardware, the ISS, Hubble, and Moonwalking and spacewalking astronauts as well. Highly recommended.

All times are CT (US)
