Need some expert help. Back in 1994 I consulted in the production of an archival CD: Apollo 13: A Race Against Time, produced by Arts&Letters.

The CD will run on OS's up to XP, but not on Windows 7. The A&L folks have no plans or resources to re-engineer it to make it compatible with Win 7. I need advice how to do this or volunteers, before I go back to A&L for any needed permissions. It would be a shame to lose this CD in a few years.

Sounds like a coding issue. I'll talk to some friends of mine about it.

Thanks. Is this something that might work?

This is very likely to work. In Vista you had the option of right-clicking on a program and selecting run in Windows XP. This is probably taking the place of that. Its definitely worth a try.

A similar option is available in Windows 7 - I can even use a program formatted for Windows 98 SE using this option.

Thanks for all the thoughtful relpies, folks. My real intention is to re-do, reformat, whatever and re-market it for Win 7 in order for it to have more years of usefulness. Of course, I'll have to get the permissions from Arts & Letters.

I'll get a copy once it is re-done. I hope Arts & Letters gives you the permission

The CD is excellent - I've had it for some years now and I can highly recommend it as a valuable resource for anyone interested in Apollo 13, and mission control in general.

(Will that do for an advert Sy?)

Thanks for the flowers, Steve. It is truly an archive. That's why I'm out on uncharted waters to preserve it. You prob liked "The Way the Data Played."--Sy
