I have been sent a tape of the two-part 1979 BBC programme that celebrated the tenth anniversary of Apollo 11, but unfortunately I can't get a decent picture from it.

Does any cS member have a tape of these programmes that I could copy?

I have a first-class audio recording which I made myself at the time. A good thing, as I don't believe any domestic video machines had hi-fi sound then.
I can easily synchronise the high-quality soundtrack to the picture, and would be only too happy to send a disc of the finished product to anyone who could supply this programme.

Here's hoping,
Colin.

Colin, how bad is the picture quality? I'm at a TV station and could run the tapes through time base correction and then could apply noise reduction and colour phase correction. It won't perform miraclkes, but it can significantly improve the quality.

Drop me a line via email.

Cheers
Dwight

At some point around 20 years ago I established that the Armagh Planetarium had a commercial-quality video-recording of the BBC Apollo 11 10th anniversary programmes. They were going to let me make a VHS copy, but then I got involved with Mrs Blackarrow and never followed up the tape issue. It may be a forlorn hope so many years later, but why not contact the Director of the Planetarium to look into this? (By the way, and sorry if this sounds too simple, but have you asked the BBC? Do they still have their original recordings, or are they (like so many other 1970's recordings) "missing, presumed wiped"?

Thanks for the tip, Blackarrow; I'll see if I can contact them.

Contact the BBC? Are you kidding? (lol)

I have recordings I know the BBC don't have, but after an email from them a few years ago(threat, threat, threat!!!), they can whistle!

Many thanks for your help. I'll let you know if I have any luck.

Cheers,
Colin.
