For those of us who speak French: former French cosmonaut Jean-Pierre Haigneré is out with two books this fall:
  • Carnet de bord d’un astronaute, Editions Flammarion, 200 p., ISBN 2080114840, €28

It's an account of his latest spaceflight on Soyuz TM29 to space station MIR.

  • De l’espace, Editions Marval, 120 photos, 180 p., ISBN 2862343900, €49

This one's a coffee table book showing photos Haigneré took while onboard space station MIR. Probably understandable without the slightest notion of French.

They can be ordered through the French outlet of Amazon.

The first book is out of print (at least from amazon.fr, although recently published (6 sept. 2006) and comes with a cd-rom; you can find it elsewhere, fnac.com for one).

The second is available but pricing is outrageous.

Jean-Pierre Haigneré also co-wrote a book with Jacques Villain, "Dans les coulisses de la conquete spatiale" (backstage/behind the scenes of space conquest), publisher: Cepadues, ISBN: 2854285964. 2003. And Jacques Villain wrote a great book entitled "Baïkonour: La porte des etoiles" (Baykonur: doorway to space), available from amazon.fr.

There are other books I can dig up for those who might be interested.

That would be very quick for a book to be out of print. In some cases amazon does not sell the book, but only links to third party sellers, which might be the case here. I hope to be in Strasbourg later this month and visit the local fnac there to have a look myself.

Are there are any books by Claudie Haigneré where she did more than lend her name or write a foreword?

A bientôt,

Jürgen

There is one, although that's not the original book. The original publisher was Plon in 1996 and at the time she wasn't married to Jean-Pierre Haigneré.

Merci, Chris.

There is a used copy of Claudie's book for just 10 Euro. I'll get me a copy straight away...
