From the Bad Astronomy Blog:

BABlog reader Fernando Rodriguez at San Luis Potosí, México, pointed out to me an image (via digg.com) of Buzz Aldrin on the Moon… sorta. It’s actually an amazingly rendered computer graphic by Andrea Bertaccini, obviously a very talented computer artist. I could tell right away it was fake; on the real one you can see lunar dust all over Aldrin’s suit. There are other telltale signs. Can you figure them out?
Here's a direct link to the faked Aldrin, via the CG Society of Digital Artists forum.

'Off Man Moon Talk' on the RCU - cheeky

Interesting to note that the Chromel-R of the gloves has proved as difficult to render as it is to reproduce in the real world. The soft leather effect in this image isn't a million miles away from the look of replica gloves from Global Effects, but instantly distinguishable from the real thing.

Cheers,
Matt

In addition to the gloves and the lack of dust, note that the radio antenna on top of Aldrin's backpack is still missing--just out of frame in the original photo.
