The NASA History Division is pleased to announce the availability of a new Monograph in Aerospace History (#36) by Howard E. McCurdy entitled Low-Cost Innovation in Spaceflight: The Near Earth Asteroid Rendezvous (NEAR) Shoemaker Mission. This is an insightful study of the management practices on the NEAR mission that originated as an unsolicited proposal from the Johns Hopkins University’s Applied Physics Lab after the CRAF mission was canceled.

Hard copies of this monograph are available to the public by sending a self-addressed 9x12" envelope for each monograph with appropriate postage for 17 ounces (typically $3.95 within the U.S., $5.70 for Canada, and $12.15 for overseas - international customers are asked to purchase U.S. postage through an outlet such as www.stampsonline.com ) to the NASA Headquarters Information Center, Washington, DC 20546. NASA employees may also stop by the History Division in room CO72 to pick up a free copy. This monograph is also available online at http://history.nasa.gov/monograph36.pdf on the Web.

All times are CT (US)
