On January 14, 2004, President George Bush charted a new course of human exploration of the solar system, which may one day send a human mission to Mars. Any idea if this report was available in paper copie ? |

Hi Philip:I have done a quick search on the Government Priniting Office (www.gpoaccess.gov OR www.gpo.gov) and did not find any information about obtaining a paper copy of the report but I did not do an indepth search. In fact, paper copies of reports are becoming a thing of the past since part of the GPO's mission includes digitizing many government reports and publications. We are in the process of doing that at the national laboratory where I work. I also searched the official White House website (www.whitehouse.gov) and found the report in PDF form. I did find the "official" title of the report: "A Renewed Spirit of Discovery". Not sure if this helps you out or not. Good luck. Let me know if you have any questions and I will try to see what I can do. Philip-I recommend the book "New Moon Rising" by Frank Sietzen and Keith Cowing. It not only outlines the substance of the Space Exploration Initiative, but also gives some fascinating details and background on how the SEI evolved and the driving forces and personalities behind it. It's published by Apogee (ISBN 1894959124) and available on Amazon.co.uk. Kevin |

For what it's worth, there is also a NASA booklet titled "The Vision for Space Exploration," publication number NP-2004-01-334-HQ.PDFs can be found at the following links: http://www.nasa.gov/pdf/55583main_vision_space_exploration2.pdf http://www.nasa.gov/pdf/55584main_vision_space_exploration-hi-res.pdf
