Well Folks no response here (yet) but believe me this a great book and a good idea for an End-of-year gift for 2003 – 2004 … I have received my copie of the book this afternoon, the facts;

“” Towards Mars “” by Raud Publishing Ltd Helsinki
Large Hardcover ( about 12 X 10 inches ) ( 30 X 24 centimeters )( No CD-ROM )
410 glossy pages with lots of photos, it starts with basic information on Mars and its Moons Deimos ( outer = Terror ) and Phobos ( inner = Fear ), continues with the history of Mars exploration ( all unmanned vehicles are described up to Mars 96 on Russian side and Mars Global Surveyor on US side ), next chapter is about the International strategy for Mars exploration ( Mars Express, Beagle, MESUR, Netlander 2007, human exploration from 2011 opportunity onwards ), then there’s a detailed chapter on European Mars Express, …
Further chapters are on Mars images, Geochemistry & Atmosphere of Mars, Space electronics and data handling, Scientific results of 1997 Pathfinder mission, Mapping by Global Surveyor, Nozomi, Exobiology, … ending with a vision on the first manned mission to Mars …

Overall a very nice volume which should sit among the other books on your Mars Exploration shelf of Your collection or private library ..

All times are CT (US)
