Currently in pre-production by Buffalo Buffalo Films, Sunrise: Voskhod is described as follows:
Deep in the throws of the cold war, the Soviet Union was determined to beat the United States at the space race. Despite a recent victory of sending the first man into space, the USSR was not about to rest on their laurels, so they set to work preparing for the first space walk. When the mission goes awry, cosmonaut Alexei Leonov - a man from the most impoverished beginnings - must rise to the occasion and prove the true power of the human spirit by fighting with every bit of energy and wit he can muster in order to return home safely.
About the film (quoted from its website):
Sunrise is a short film produced for the enjoyment and education of its viewers. Long time Writer/Producer/Director team Andrew Babick and Nathaniel Barker are teaming up for a independent short film production that will highlight the skills they acquired while at NYU's premiere film school.

While both the American and Soviet space programs were sometimes guided by politics rather than a pure desire to explore, "Sunrise" seeks to celebrate the altruistic spirit of the men who intrepidly realized the world's most elusive dream. Men like Sergei Pavlovich Korolev - who single-handedly managed the Soviet Union's entire space program - Yuri Gagarin, and of course Pavel Belyayev and Alexei Leonov, reshaped the way we look at the stars, and their feats deserve to be documented accurately before they pass into the realm of myths and legends.

More information and updates available through the film's Facebook page.
