I went to work yesterday and the manager of the shop I worked for had something for me. He said "If you don't want them, its no big deal, but I figured you might want to see them". Well that was an understatement as these were some real treasures. The first was the June 18, 1965 issue of Life Magazine featuring GT-4 with Ed White's spacewalk on the cover. The second was a special issue of LOOK magazine dedicated entirely to the flight of Apollo 8 with some really cool photographs in it. Naturally I was willing to take them off his hands. I wouldn't say these are pristine, but the covers are intact and the coloring is good with no pages cut or ripped out of them. Plus they provide a nice glimpse into a magazine world I only have read about in books as I wasn't even around when either of these issues were printed. |

Awesome, Jay! That Life is one of my all time favorites, as it had that beautiful Ed White EVA photos, and all the stuff about what made Gemini Tick, Chris Kraft, and what they would do in emergencies (useful in understanding the GT-8 rescue). The Look was beautiful as we first understood that we had just left the nest for the first time.
