Hi all,

Have just recieved a great little box set from Amazon today and thought I'd tell you all about it as I haven't seen anything written about it before.

It's called "Apollo 11, Artifacts from the First Lunar Landing" and basically its like a box full of reproduction artifacts from the Air and Space Museum ! The box itself is hard cardboard with a hinged lid on the front and seems good quality. But its inside the box you really want to know about !

Firstly we have a book explaining the timeline of the mission and where each artifact fits in to it, I will make this next bit like a list to make it easier to explain.

Prelaunch. Apollo 11 mission patch.
Launch. Launch Invitation and Vehicle Pass, Buzz Aldrins picturess of his children (carried in his spacesuit pocket), Flight Directors log.
Earth Orbit. Star Charts.
En route to the moon. Apollo Menu Press Release, Lunar Module Checklist.
Lunar Orbit. Lunar Area map 2.
Looking for the LM. Command Module Pilots solo book.
The Moonwalk. Lunar Traverse Map.
Lunar Liftoff. Washington Post Front Page.
Splashdown. Telegram To Journalists, Neil Armstrongs Travel Voucher, Customs Declaration.
Post flight. White House Dinner Invitation.

Throughout the book there are portions of the Apollo 11 transcript and images so you can see what is happening while the astronauts and ground crew are refering to the items. All the items are reproduced as accurately as possible, even with the crews notes on the pages and the handwritten flight directors log.

I have to say its well worth the £14.70 I paid for it. Well done NASM and Chronicle Books.

Happy Collecting all..............Adam
