I heard that Vance Brand, Owen Garriott, Hank Hartsfield, Rick Hauck, Steve Hawley, Jim Lovell, and Jim McDivitt are some of the 2009 signers, but there are more to come. I highly recommend the Astronaut Autograph Club. You receive some great signed photos and the money goes to scholarships for outstanding young men and women in science and engineering. The astronauts involved donate their time, carrying on the efforts of the Mercury 7 astronauts to "pay it forward" by helping young people. |

They updated the ASF web cite and added Gordon Fullerton to the lineup! But still curious about the rest? |

Astronaut Scholarship Foundation release Hero Astronauts Offer Out-Of-This-World Club for the HolidaysYou may never go to space, but here's a chance to receive a letter and an autographed photo from legendary astronauts who have! Twelve space heroes have come together for a sixth year to offer memberships to the 2009 Astronaut Autograph Club as a means to raise money for college scholarships through the Astronaut Scholarship Foundation. The club affords its members an autographed photo and personalized letter from a U.S. Hall of Fame Astronaut for every month of the year! "The Astronaut Autograph Club is a fun way to engage kids and adults alike in the excitement of space exploration and the significance it has on society," said Apollo 13 astronaut James Lovell who is participating in the club. "Every dollar raised from this club goes directly to fund scholarships for some of the very best and brightest engineering and science college students in our nation through awards made by the Astronaut Scholarship Foundation." The stellar line-up of participating astronauts include Gemini and Apollo astronauts Lovell and Jim McDivitt; Skylab and Space Shuttle astronaut Owen Garriott; Apollo-Soyuz Test Project and Space Shuttle astronaut Vance Brand; veteran Space Shuttle astronauts Hank Hartsfield, Rick Hauck, Steve Hawley and four additional American heroes! Limited to the first 350 to subscribe, members also receive two Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex admission tickets ($80 value), a certificate of membership and an archival photo box with protective sleeves to keep the photos in pristine condition. The Astronaut Autograph Club can be joined for a recurring monthly charge of $49.95 for twelve months or save $100 when making a one-time payment of $499. Orders can be placed online or by calling 321-455-7014. Unlike other 'flavor-of-the-month' services, the Astronaut Autograph Club makes for the perfect gift that will be long-treasured after the holidays and for many years to come. Memberships are going fast. All proceeds go directly to fund college scholarships to students who exhibit motivation, imagination, and exceptional performance in the science or engineering field of their major. The Astronaut Scholarship Foundation, a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization, awards 20 $10,000 scholarships annually and has awarded more than $2.6 million to students nationwide. |

I received the first shipment in the 2009 AAC. The signed photo is by Vance Brand, who signed "V Brand." The surprise gift was included, but I'll refrain from revealing what it is other than to say it will make you laugh. The Astronaut Scholarship Foundation is a great cause, giving $10,000 scholarships yearly to deserving students in science and engineering. |

I received the March installment on Monday, and it was a great print signed by Jim McDivitt, which you can see most of here. I thought the letter from him was particularly good. In it he talks about the importance of preparation. I'm in the midst of training for the Boston Marathon right now, so this had particular resonance for me. |

I agree. I had a bad day at work yesterday, and had been watching the anniversary edition DVD of Apollo 13 over the weekend, so I was pleasantly surprised to have that photo waiting for me when I got home. It's for his Gemini XII flight which is special to me as my dad was part of the recovery force. He was on a destroyer that was part of the carrier escort, but he said that they were ready to recover the capsule if necessary. |

Both my son and I have independently had the same experience as you, John. It does raise suspicions! |

Received in the mail today the latest from the AAC-- Gen. Tom Stafford with blue sharpie on a black and white photo of him in an Apollo spacesuit (a photo I had not seen before). Very nice. With Gen. Stafford charging $275 in recent signings, this photo alone makes the 2009 (and last) AAC worthwhile-- let alone the other signers including Jim McDivitt and Jim Lovell. |
