I have one of Doug Wheelock's personal patches and I'd love to have an autographed photo to show with it when I do military displays (I'll be doing a lecture on vets in space in November).

Anyone have an idea how best to get a signature from him? I'm not a signature collector like most of you, so I'm kinda new at looking for one specifically without already meeting someone in person...

You should meet him in person. To my experience, he does not respond through the mail.

I can agree he's great in-person. He had a bit of time before a presentation, and I approached him with a, "Col. Wheelock? I Tweeted you..." and he finished with a, "Oh sure. I remember. Come on." We talked for a bit during the time he had, he signed a few things for us, and when I thanked him again via Twitter, he responded likewise. A class act.

UPDATE: This showed up in the mail yesterday, something I didn't expect at all (heck, I didn't even know that NASA still made portrait lithos). I love the inscription as clearly the man must have been made aware of my Army connection:

Someone on this forum was kind enough to secure this for me after reading the original post I'd made here. Out of respect for the kind person who did the legwork for me, I won't be naming them but I'm very thankful for the assistance.
