Tickets for the STS-117 launch will go on-sale at 9 AM EST, Monday, January 29, on this website as well as over the phone at +1 321-449-4400.Pricing and package options will be posted to the above linked website by Friday, January 26 at 5 PM EST. Launch ticket orders cannot be placed via email requests or by leaving a voice message. You must place your order online or by speaking to a reservation agent. STS-117 is targeted to launch on March 15 at 6:42 a.m. EDT on a mission to continue assembly of the International Space Station. |

Anyone in Florida expecting to get a ticket to see the launch from the NASA Causeway: if you have a spare seat in your car, any chance of taking a visiting CSer on board? If I can make it to Florida for the launch, I would be happy to share the cost of the ticket. I might even be so overjoyed by the experience that I could take you and your family for a post-launch celebration dinner (actually 12 or 13 hours later!) |

Each individual person needs to buy a ticket to view from the causeway. You are thinking of the car passes they used to give out, where it was one ticket per car and you could fit as many people as you would like in it.Since 2002 they don't allow cars on base, and you must purchase a ticket ($51) to take the bus out to the causeway from the visitors complex. If you need a ride to the VC, I'm sure there are members here who would be happy to help (including me if I were viewing from there). |

Has security change that even vehicle causeway pass requested and received through our local congressman/woman are not accepted or they continue to allow them through?didn't somenone say on here they received one from their congressman for STS-116 launch? |

Congressionally-requested car passes haven't been available since at least 2002. The only car pass program offered since has been for NASA employees only. I believe the congressional pass you are remembering was for a Causeway VIP invitation, which includes bussed-transportation. |

Okay, thought they were the same thing. So if I write to my state congressman for a causeway VIP invitation, I may have a chance then of seeing a launch if they send one?Can multiple people go on one invitation or each person would have to write their own request and how far advance do I send the letter before the launch? When is the next night launch? |

Each person needs to have a ticket. Even if invited, you may still be required to pay for the bus ride to the viewing site. The VIP Causeway viewing site is no closer to the launch pad then the tickets sold through the Visitor Complex to the causeway. The best and easiest way for the public to view a launch is to purchase tickets through the Visitor Complex, when they are available. The next scheduled night launch, as was mentioned earlier in this thread, is the next launch, STS-117 in March. |

During a shuttle launch is it possible to view the launch from the KSC visitor center (ie from the rocket garden)?Would the visitor center be opened so early considering the upcoming March 15 launch time is approx. 6:40AM? Has any of the CSers ever seen a launch from KSC visitor center or can recommend a better viewing area without purchasing tickets for causeway? |

The Visitor Center sells tickets to view the launch from the Visitor Center. These tickets are $38 per adult or $28 per child. They will go on sale at the same time as the causeway viewing packages. An expanded package is also available that includes dining with a former NASA astronaut.Others can recommend off-site locations. I would suggest checking out the launch viewing guide on Ben's LaunchPhotography.com, too. |

Just to add to what Robert explained -
The viewing area at KSCVC is the grassy area just to the north of the Rocket Garden. They usually have bleachers and a JumboTron TV on site so you can watch the shuttle lift off the pad. You can then watch it with the naked eye after it rises above the horizon seconds later.
After the VIP and causeway areas, the next best place to view the shuttle launch from off the pad is anywhere along U.S. 1 and the Indian River in Titusville. |

Please read above. It is the NASA causeway, of which the tickets have been sold (try ebay if you want them).After that, the next is Titusville if you want a clear view of the pad, or the KSC Visitors Complex which is closer but has no view of the pad. Tickets are still available by clicking the above link. |

The tickets say it is illegal to sell or swap them.Having said that I have a causeway ticket but must be in Toronto from June 8-10 so stay tuned. I saw 116 from the Visitor's Center and it was magnificent - if this is all you can get I would still go for it. Highly recommended! |
