Space Explorers ForestOne view commonly shared by Astronauts and Cosmonauts who have experienced spaceflight is the beauty and fragility of our earth as seen from space.
American Forests has teamed up with the space community through Yuri's Night a non- profit project that promotes space exploration and thinking globally, acting locally. We have created a special Global ReLeaf project near Mojave, California.
Mojave Desert RCD, Mountain Communities Wildfire ReLeaf
In the San Bernardino Mountains, 12 million trees are dead or dying due to six years of drought, which has triggered stress and bark beetle epidemics. Devastating wildfires have swept through parts of the mountains, in some places killing 100 percent of the trees. The long-term "Mountain Communities Wildfire ReLeaf Project" will plant native trees while it continues to develop and implement a comprehensive reforestation program for these southern California Mountains.
Partnering with American Forests are the Mojave Resource Conservation District and the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection.
Your $20 minimum donation will:
- Plant ten Trees in the Space Explores Forests
- Send a portion of the proceeds to continuing to make space programming available to the next generation of space explorers
And please visit www.historictrees.org to purchase a genuine Moon Sycamore from American Forests' Famous & Historic Tree collection to plant at home or in your community.
