The Mercury7 Science Center is a nonprofit mobile exhibit that travels to schools to inspire 1st and 2nd grade students in the space program. We are building exhibits dedicated to all of the manned space programs and are also completing a full size LEM at one end of the Airstream exhibit trailer. We have a very small budget for space artifacts though so I want to ask everyone to go through there collections and see if you have anything that would inspire the kids that we could build an exhibit around. You can read more about us at http://www.mercury7.com. You can reach me directly at Mercury7@gmail.com and our mailing address is:

Hello, just a quick announcement/update: The Mercury 7 Science Center has entered into a contract with NASA to display some lunar samples. If you live anywhere near Greenville, SC and would like to see these when we get them then you can email me at mercury7@gmail.com and I will keep in touch and let you know when and where.

Congratulations Scott. By any measure that's a significant achievement (and milestone) resulting from your initiative. For those of us who cant arrange a visit, would love to see pictures of the specimens and transport hardware if that is permitted.

Thanks guys, I will be sure to document everything. The security is extreme. No shipping allowed and so I am going to have to drive to Langley to pick up. Johnson Space Center has to review our security plan. Should be great and fun though. I'll keep you updated.

Hello, We received a shipment from NASA yesterday. It was exciting to get some things for display from them. We got a pumpkin suit that has been up 8 times and a good many tiles from the shuttle. We also received several photo op stand ups for the kids to have there picture taken with and a huge NASA flag. Really great stuff! We may have gotten excited too soon over the moon rocks though, although we have not been officially turned down it looks like there are security concerns because we are a mobile exhibit. Apparently another slide set was recently stolen out of a van and so things are not looking good for that part of our loan. In the meantime I am getting some terrestrial anorthosite so the kids will at least get to examine and hold something similar. I am still looking for some gloves and a scooper so they can take turns trying to pick them up. Sorry I spoke too soon about the moon rocks. When I originally posted it looked like a sure thing but now it just looks like it will have to wait until we have a permanent building to operate out of. Scott

Hello everyone, we recently hosted an event at Wren Elementary in Piedmont, South Carolina and I wanted to share some of the photos with you. Thanks to everyone who has supported this project... now let's see if you can pick out the one that will first step foot on Mars.

Very nice indeed! Great exhibit! The kids look like they're having a good time, and learning about space history too!

Thanks guys, it really was a lot of fun....seems like it took me forever to put together but seeing the kids faces made it worthwhile. We did a two part presentation, an astronomy show thurs night with about a 150 kids looking at the moon through 5 scopes, and then the next day the teachers took each class through the trailer.

Hi, I wanted to share a few pics from today's show the science center did. Probably of most interest to readers here is a really nice poster of the Ares I-X poster that an employee from Langley Research Center sent us. It can be seen in the third photo.

This morning the Mercury7 Science Center presented the second annual award for outstanding achievement in Science and Math (combined hi-score) to Sarah Wilson. Sarah is a 5th grader who wants to be a doctor when she grows up, it seems she is well on her way! Congratulations Sarah!

Way to go Sarah, job well done. I am sure this is the first of many honors you will receive! Keep up the good work.
