Pilot Joe Engle lands X-15 number 3 after flight 3-35-57 on September 28, 1964. He reached a speed of Mach 5,59 and an altitude of 97,000 feet on this flight. Engle noted smoke in the cockpit after engine burnout, but managed to make a successful landing on Rogers Dry Lake. Flying chase in the F-104 is Pete Knight. Ed Hengeveld |

WOW! Now there's some history and nostalgia. Not only do we get the pleasure of the X15 photo, but the F104 as well with 2 top notch pilots at the sticks.GREAT photo, Ed! |
