As announced on Facebook this morning (Sept. 2), Gemini and Apollo astronaut Gene Cernan has a new official website. Captain Eugene A. Cernan holds the distinction of being the last man to leave his footprints on the moon. He now speaks about his experiences at selected events around the world. During 20 years as a Naval Aviator, including 13 years with the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), Captain Cernan left his mark on history with three historic missions in space as the Pilot of Gemini IX, the Lunar Module Pilot of Apollo X, and the Commander of Apollo XVII. He was also the second American to walk in space. |

I thought that Apollo missions were designated with standard numerals, not roman numerals. I suppose it's Cernan's website and he can do as he pleases. On a side note it looks like my local library network has finally obtained a copy of "The Last Man on the Moon" film so I hope to reserve it and see it soon. |

"The Last Man on the Moon" documentary is currently on Netflix. I don't know if you subscribe or not, but it might save you a trip to the library. |

Well, regardless of official NASA policy, half of Apollo mission patches (including both of Cernan's) had Roman not Arabic numerals (over half if you include 15's sneaky XV). |
