I noticed a piece on Sarah Brightman's upcoming trip to ISS and wondered, in the face of a fairly short (6 month) training program, is it possible (or has it yet been the case?) that for a space flight participant to meet a fellow space traveler for the first time on orbit.Obviously the ASTP folks trained together a lot, but are training schedules for paid ISS travelers such that one might never meet the fellows from other expedition groups before you get there? |

Back in 1987 Buran test pilot Anatoli Levchenko met Soyuz TM-2 crew Yuri Romanenko and Alexander Laveykin first time on board Mir space station. |

With regards to spaceflight participants, though their concentrated training may be brief, they are involved in the program for over a year, from the start of contract negotiations through their medical qualification exams and familiarization tours. For example, Sarah Brightman first met Scott Kelly during her visit to Johnson Space Center in April 2014. | |
